Barb, about all I can say is that we're in roughly the same growing zone and area and if I were you I wouldn't be sowing seed until about April 1st with a goal of setting out around June 1, depending on weather. And that includes about a week of hardening off.

Once you've done the initial transplant to the plastic 6-paks you want to let them settlle in and grow a bit and then, and only then, transfer them to a cooler area for the remainder of their growing before hardening them off.

So I wouldn't recommend putting them in a cool room each night.
