SWC on Gutters

I will be trying SWC using gutters as the water reservoir.

So they will be lined up on a 10 foot gutter.

Will i need to drill holes in the bottom of the bucket? where the wicking basket sits.

Like we usally do for the SWC or Earthtainer.

You mean the aeration holes, correct? I would say yes. It doesn't look like this guy does though.

I guess it would probably depend on the size of the container you are using above the gutter. I can't see how the extra aeration for the roots could hurt you.

What are you going to grow? It would appear to be a good system and utilization of space for greens and herbs. Would love to see your setup when you get it done.

Yup the aerations holes.

I will be using 18Gallons rubbermaids for tomoatos (1 in each) And 5 Gallons buckets for cucumbers and peppers.

I will drill the aeration holes then..

Will poste pics when it's all done still have 1.5 months before planting outside in zone 5a.

SWC = Self Watering Container

SWC - Self Watering Container. It is a bit of a misnomer as unless you add in an auto watering system you still need to add water.
SIP is really a better description - Sub Irrigated Planter
