Using poultry incubator?
I finished hatching some chicks in my cabinet incubator just about the time i started my seeds. I was searching around to get heat under them when i thought why not just put them in the incubator. The seed trays fit nicely in the incubator trays and it is 99.5 degrees F. in there (Although dark). Do you think it is a bad idea to use that to get the seeds germinated?

I think you should be ok. However at those temp. 99.5. I would move the seedlings once they have germinated to something slightly cooler. Unless of course you can regulate the incubator ? But even then they would require light at this stage.

Temperatures that hot can delay pepper germination. I don't know about tomatoes.

The temperature is adjustable. It's set at 99.5 right now because that is the temperature used to hatch chicken eggs. I have a tray of pepper seeds in there and I don't want to ruin them. It is moist and i have the domes on the seed trays. I plan to move them as soon as the pop up.

I'd lower it to at least 90F if you have peppers. The ideal temperature for them is around 85F, if I remember correctly.

FYI, it didn't work out very well. I had very poor germination. I had to start another flat.
