Default My city garden

My main vegetable plot is out at the country, but I wanted to grow some veggies in the city too. So additional to flowers I have tomatoes, hot peppers, cucumbers, summer squash, onios, strawberries, lettuce and herbs in containers and flower beds.

Here is my small backyard garden.

Black Cherry and Triple Climber

The tent has become a jungle with the tomatoes and a cape gooseberry

Cucumbers and onions

Tomatoes hanging on the balcony

Can you spot the beast guarding my tomatoes from birds?

Yes, bottom left is a distinct feline face displayed thru the opening in the bricks. Looks to be an arctic Lynx in character (lol). I'd say your plants are safe from the aviary hoards that are seeking their fortunes in your yard. (lol)

I like the very high use of space for gardening. It looks good, Sari.

I might try cucumbers in containers up here at the house next year.

Very nice. What tomatoes are in your hanging baskets?

Very nice! I can relate because I too live in the city with a small backyard. I'm always squeezing in what I can here and there weahter it be a tomato plant or some extra basil.

The balcony looks like a great place to relax & maybe do some grilling. The plants look in happy shape.

Excellent! I too have a small city garden. Most things are in containers as well. We are pretty close to picking our first cucumber container grown soon.

Thanks, my plants look healthy, but they are not as productive as I have hoped for except the Hundreds and Thousands tomato, which are the ones in the hanging baskets.
Here is a wider view of my city garden. We have so many snails on our yard that I have kept everything edible away from the lawn area and have sprinkled iron phosphate slug bait on the surrounding areas.

Now I can also show the eyesores. Our yard needs still a lot of work. The 10’x12’ greenhouse should be built on this corner, where all the rocks and tree stumps are. We need to fill the area first and then I want some raised beds for vegetables next to the greenhouse.

Front yard is a real disaster. It does not show much curb appeal with all sorts of weedy plants and shrubs. The hump on the front is bedrock and I would like to remove the thin layer of soil from top of it, because I cannot plant anything there. Behind the rock I would like to plant rhododendrons, which should do well in the acidic soil and partly shady area.

Here is better view of our 22lb North American Couch Tiger (he was born in US). He is an involuntary indoor cat, but is allowed to roam outside under constant supervision. So far he has not tied to escape from the balcony even the drop on the other end should be no problem to him.
Someone had seen a Lynx a block from our house, but I’m not sure if the sighting was real – still I do not keep the balcony door open through the night any more.

I think they actually saw your North American Couch Tiger and thought it was a lynx!!! He's a big one! And handsome!

He should meet our 20 lb North American Voluptu-pus; "Baby Truck." She always sleeps like this!
