I was a Black Cherry hater for two years. I couldn't figure out what most people liked about the variety. They tasted horrible. I accidentally let a few ripen to the soft stage on the vine this year. I tried them and they were great. They were like little containers of pure tomato taste with a little sugar thrown in for good measure. For me, the difference between "looks ripe but still pretty firm" and "looks ripe but soft" makes a world of difference. I'll grow them again next year and I am looking forward to them .

Good point. I think the black cherries would also be good cut up with balsamic vinegar and a white cheese like feta or fresh mozzarella.
