Default aphids-potato leaf tomato

I was watering my plants that are hardening off for my second tomato planting and saw that I had a lot of aphids on some of them. I also noticed that my potato leaf varieties had the bulk of the aphids while the regular leaf plants had hardly any. Is this just a fluke or is there something that causes aphids to attack potato leaf plants more?
I tried that new Neem oil and Pyrethrin spray that I found recently. Will be checking to see how effective it is on aphids in a couple of hours.
