Default eggplant leaves wilting

So my eggplants, about a 6-8inches tall and in a 4 and a half inch pot have their lower leaves wilting. Their uppermost leaves look great and the stems are strong and everything is green. The peppers right next to them are doing fine as are other eggplants on different shelves. I can't find any vermin that might be affecting them... any ideas? They seem to wilt, get crunchy edges and die, and I am afraid eventually the whole plant will go although right now the tops look fine.
