Default Peppers Crossed

My Santa Fe Grande and Jalapeno plants are really messed up this year. Only 2 of 5 Santa Fe Grande resemble the real thing and only 1 of 5 Jalapeno plants resemble the real Jalapeno. The only thing I did different last year was grow a Bhut Jolokia plant in a pot in close proximity to the other pepper plants. Is Bhut Jolokia more prone to cross with other varieties? The plants that do not resemble the original are not particularly hot. If a pepper crossed with Bhut Jolokia would it necessarily be hot?
