my potting mix and 1st transplanting (pictures)
Some of my experimental seedlings were ready to move to 3" containers today, so here I go... mixing some soil this morning:
1 part of peat moss/perlite/vermiculite mix (4:2:1 ratio): 1 part of bagged composted sheep or mushroom manure + a little bit of bone meal, blood meal and wood ashes from my fireplace = nice and light soil mix: Here is my mixing soil 'bench', to avoid all that mess that all of you are so familiar with... Tumbler F3 seedlings, ready for potting up: looks like they could have lived in their smaller yogurt containers for another 4-7 days... ... but what the heck - since I am at it, they'll go into 3" pots anyway! Watered and happy in their new spacious homes: I think they are all set now and have better chance of survival while I am away for 2+ weeks in January.
