is this BER?
Is my problem BER? I purchased and planted these Better Boys about 12 weeks ago and almost all my tomatoes have been undersized and 80-90% I have tossed because of what I believe to be BER. Most never ripened like these but most of the ones that did had a very dark brown/black color on bottom that was hard and crusty and had a flat bottom and I assume they suffered from BER from previous pictures I have seen on this forum. However these are similar except the bottom is a light-grayish brown color and the diseased area is mushy. These are in plastic 18 gal containers and many leaves have turned brown the past 2-3 weeks. High daytime temps have been in the 85-93 *F range past few weeks except last week had 4 days when temp did not get into 80's. I water these plants about 1.5 gal during mid-day except might skip a day when temp isn't above 80. Is this BER and am I watering enough or too much?
I have about 8 - 1/4 inch holes about 1/2 to 1 inch up from bottom of container. I am not seeing any water come out of holes when I water. Think they might not be big enough?
