Problems germinating Dr. Lyle
I'm beginning to think it's just not meant to be for me to grow Dr. Lyle. A couple of years ago I got seeds from Carolyn and Dr. Lyle was the only one in the bunch that never germinated for me. I chalked it up to the fact that the seeds were several years old. I also noted that others who followed up in the results thread also got low germination from it.
This year I got some fresh Dr. Lyle seeds and planted them on Feb.2. So far not a single one has germinated. All other varieties are up and growing. Some germinated within 4 days (!) and are now ready to be potted up. Some were slower, notably Omar's Lebanese, but I have at least a plant or two up from everything but Dr. Lyle. I treated all the seeds exactly the same. I finally put them on bottom heat provided by a heating pad set on low. After a week there....nothing And these are fresh seeds. Sigh...and Dr. Lyle has been on my wish list for years now Jennifer |
