Store bought potatoes
Tom,
Based on the reading I've done while researching info as I attempt to grow my own, I would say definitely yes. But I'll wait for the 'potato experts' to give the official word. Jeff |

Good Luck!!

Yes, you will get potatoes, but they may have some diseases from the past year's crop which could reduce your output. Still worth a shot..

Thanks everyone - I'm gonna leave them and see whats what - do you stake the plant - or kinda just let it sprawl all over the joint ?
I have 2 super healthy plants - its pretty funny actually. ~ Tom

I was reluctant to post about planting store bought potatoes because I wanted to see what other people said. I have seen folks start a whole field with store bought potatoes. My folks always purchased potatoes meant for planting. When we planted potatoes we planted about a 1/4 acre of them and I hated digging the things so I wouldn't plant them now if I had the soil to do it in. Maybe the fancy or red ones but not a russet type. As for sprawling we never staked potatoes there is no point in it. Worth |

I also focus on waxy potatoes. They're great with dinner. I can always buy russets for making baked potatoes at the store.

I stake my potato haulms but again I am a novice (so don't follow my way). I grow them in pots at the front porch and by staking, they look tidy.

My potatoes are doing well - there are some bugs bothering the foliage, but its not that big of deal. I'll post a pic soon.
