Varieties that do well in containers

Since my Cherokee Purple seems to be doing so well in the container, despite the drought and heat, I will probably do more container planting next year. So I thought I'd gather some information on varieties that you've found to do well in a container. So what varieties do you recommend for container growing?

I grow all my tomatoes in containers including the cherry types. I've used Earthboxes, the 5 gallon white growbags, black plastic pots and self watering almost 10 gallon pots. They all do well being contained. I didn't use the EB this year as they seem to take alot of ProMix compared to the bags or pots. Next season, I am going to stick with all 5 gallon pots since they take up less room in the greenhouse. Our growing season isn't that long so I don't think we need the big pots up here.

I've grown pretty much everything in pots for several years now. I have an interesting comparison going - I have 20 dwarfs in the soil (two different locations), and 60 in bags and pots. Those in the bags and pots are at least one week ahead of those in the ground. All that heat around the roots really moves things along more quickly.

The big challenge is keeping them sufficiently watered when it is really hot! Thank goodness I recently retired - I am watering my pots twice a day most days!
