May Day, Plant out time and yard shots
May Day has turned out to be a beautiful day in the mid 20's c. Moved my tomato seedlings from the house to my new green house in preparation for planting them out. As today is a holiday in Germany planting out will have to wait till tomorrow. Anyway gave the seedlings a foliar spray of Actinovate, Sea-Plus and Spray-n-grow plus a soil drench of Actinovate, MycoGrow soluble mycorrhizae and BioBizz "Bio-Grow in preperation for the big event.
Took some pictures of the yard and it's inhabitants as the weather demanded I do so. First pictures of the green house and seedlings and the rest just putzin around the yard. Ami

I just love your place Ami! The pics are great. Hope you don't mind that I shamlessly stole your pic of the flower and bee and put it on my computer background I could almost smell those flowers. It is so nice to see pretty scenery while at work in an institutional setting and dark outside

wow, Ami I can't believe your tomatoes are that big, they grew fast. Well, I guess it could be the experience. As always your property is beautiful, so well groomed. We try but we live in the country with 20 acres to keep mowed and we both work full time (thank goodness). oh yeah, I like the dog.

Spent the whole day yesterday grooming the yard and today will begin the great tomato plant out. A lot of work but the end result makes it worth it. My property is only 1200 square meters but enough to keep me busy and grow tomatoes. Ami

Really good looking, Ami! I'm still afraid of getting some late frost here, that's why I'm still waiting till mid/end of may - I would be very frustrated loosing my babies...

I just went outside to check on my garden and take some new pics. This is my first garden and I got a little carried away. When I get into something, I tend to get obsessed for a while. My pain management doctor suggested that it would be good for me to "play in the dirt.". She said that there have been studies that show that playing in the dirt and being in the sunshine will help raise seratonin levels. So, I played in the dirt, big time. I can't wait until next growing season to start all over again!
Pictures starting from the top left are as follows: ichiban eggplant, pineapple plant, baby pineapple, baby dixie queen watermelon, baby watermelon, baby watermelon, dwarf cavendish red banana with nasturtiums and oregano, a beefsteak ripening on the vine, more beefsteak, betterboy (i think), eggplant, herbs, hypertufa man that I recently made, nasturtiums and lettuce, a little tendersweet cucumber, my labradoodle named Lilly, beans and broccoli, tomatoes in containers, a garden path that i have been making using concrete and a mold, topsy turvy tomato with patio cherry tomatoes, close-up of cherry tomatoes, and nicotina for the butterflies and bees |

Zinnia, good stuff and a roger on the therapeutic benefits of playing in the dirt, especially if your growing something in it. Getting carried away is easy to do and every year it just gets worse. Enjoy your sessions and thanks for sharing. Ami

Mike, don't know what her breed is. During my stay in Crete we lived in a small villiage called Stavros and a neighbor's dog had two puppies and we ended up with Sena. Before we left Crete to come back to Germany we adopted another mutt as well. There was a German lady there who started up an animal shelter there and had over 600 dogs and 200 cats. Sorry to say but alot of Greeks do not take care of their pets and many times abandon them. She actively solicited tourists to adopt a dog or cat and had a deal with the airlines who would fly the pets back with the adopter free of charge. She was quite a lady and received no help from the Greek government. Ami

Zinnia what a great garden, I can't believe it is your 1st year. Digging in the dirt and being in the sunshine is good for both physical and mental health. Keep up the good work.
