Kim,

Sorry I am not Andrey, but I do know Russian fairly well

The yellow fruited variety is called 'Medovyi Spas' (='Honey Spas?', I am not sure what 'Spas' means). CV 'Sibirskiy Sad' (='Siberian Orchard')

The red one is 'Yablonka Rossii' ('Russian Apple Tree' or Apple Tree of Russia') from CV 'Russkiy Ogorod'(='Russian Garden')

I am sure Andrey has more information about these varieties and their origins.
I know 'Yablonka Rossii' was available in SSE Yearbook in 2006-2008, offered by a member from Belgium, Luc Fichot, who recently passed away. It is still offered in SSE Yearbook as 'Russian Apple Tree' by SSE itself, original seed from Marina Danilenko, Russia.

I listed Medovyi Spas tomato variety in SSE 2009 Yearbook for the first year and was really impressed with a yield of this variety on several its plants in 2008 comparing to other heart shaped varieties.

Medovyi Spas - midseason, indet. plant with a high yield of bright orange, heart shaped 200-800 g fruits born in cluster of 4-6, good flavor. Russian variety. Medovyi Spas is a Russian Orthodox holiday celebrated in August when combs are full of fresh honey.

Yablonka Rossii is also listed in SSE 2009 Yearbook under its translated name Russian Apple Tree, but actually this is not Russian variety at all. It is Matina (a.k.a. Tamina) a well-known German CV re-named for some reason in Russia. Early, indet. potato leaf plant with a high yield of red, globe 60-100 g fruits, good flavour.

Good luck, Kim!

And if you want to try more Russian and other Eastern European vegetable varieties we can have a seed trade later in autumn or winter

Default trade

Oh Andrey I'd love to trade...let me know if there is anything you're interested in and if I don't have it I'll try and get it. I'd love trying some eastern varieties. With your zone how do you get everything grown that you must want or need??? Greenhouse probably huh?

Kim

We have 2 greenhouses and 3 cold frames on our garden + some volunteers among other Belarusian gardeners from the south of Belarus which help me with seed production of different vegetables.

Andrey,
I love the photos and writing on the seed packs. How hard would it be to get some empty packets of different vegetables? I'd be happy to pay for them. I'm thinking it would be cute to decorate my kitchen with.

Barbee, no problem. We always have at least 20-30 spare seed packets every year. No need to pay for them. I will send them to you with my pleasure. Just PM me you address.

I think it'd be nice put them in a frame like a photo or a picture or to make a collage from them. Follow you imagination and ideas
