Pretty dog. Watching them in the snow is a hoot. Ami

aha... this is where all that snow went!

We have a snow-less winter this year, and temperatures today go up to 12C (56F) during the day and 9C at night. I am bringing my tomatoes and pepper seedlings out to the cold frame to enjoy the sunshine they foretasted for today. I wish I started onions and lettuces 3 weeks earlier, as they could have been growing outside in the cold frames, given our warm weather...

Gorgeous pictures Ami!

Tania

Snow?

November was mild with no snow. Early Dec brought one spitter with a couple of inches. At $25 a trip my snow plow man plows one inch of snow. Yes, I know his main winter income is plowing but Jeff, have mercy when you say that a minimum of 3 " is when you go out.

No significant snow until last Sunday/Monday, about a foot, 2 X $25 + Dec. $25. More snow Friday night add one more $25 for plowout yesterday oate. Total to date =$100 and it's only mid January. Freda shovels the deck and by the front door when she's here filling the bird feeders and cleaning for me. More snow money.

But it looks nice out there. Some deer still pawing down through the snow to get at the thyme out back, I don't know why they find that so enticing, they do it every year. The Black Bear that's been causing me problems has to be in hibernation right now, I hope, b'c Freda is back putting out the full range of bird seed that attracts so many birds that I love to watch. Can't do when the bear is here b'c it tears down everything that's low as to feeders.

As for me, I spend most of my time in the LV/DR which is one huge room, the front 2/3 of that front hexagon, with wrap around windows all the way around the front. I sit, I read, I watch the birdies, the snow falling, read the seed catalogs, read lots of books, watch tennis when it's on and maybe a good movie, nibble on good chocolate and nuts and balance that off with Diet Pepsi, and I'm in here for the rest of the winter b'c my car is in the garage, the battery is in the house b'c no way do I go out there in my walker.

Except if one of those stupid red squirrels gets inside the one large feeder on the deck railing and the darn thing tries to get out and all I hear is BONG, BONG, CRASH as it jumps up and hits the lid hour after hour.

Minus 10 F here this AM.

Ami, I love your pictures. Good thing your dogs like the snow. My brighter cat wanted out yesterday, I told her it was too darn cold, she persisted and I let her out. She was back in within 10 min. The less bright cat kid slept atop my flannel nightgown on my bed oblivious to any outdoor forays.

I'll take pictures of the cat that adopted us from next store. He has a small box in the carport with cushion and blanket. He meets me at the front door every morning when I get up whether it be 0500 or 0800 for his morning meal. He will get one or two more during the day especially in the winter. In the summer I may not see him for 1 or two days at a time. He was one of the casualties when his owners next store parted ways. Ami
