Default Container Soil Mix- Good recipe?

Hi,
I just purchased a bunch of triple mix (equal parts topsoil, peat, and compost) from a local garden centre. I'm wondering what, if anything, i should add to this for my containerized tomatoes.
I found the following generic recipe : •3 parts soilless potting soil
•1 part composted cow manure
•2 parts triple mix Is this appropriate for tomaotes?
Thank you

brendang,

At a minimum, I would add in 16% to 20% Perlite to keep your mix aerated.

Would expanded polystrene (masonry insulation) water repellent be ok to keep the moisture level down?

Here is a page with links to several formulas for making
container mix and seed starting mix:

(I never tried polystyrene in container mix.)

Anything with the word "strene" that the roots would mingle in, I would avoid. Perlite is inert as it is a fired rock, and can't be ingested by the plant.

PS: Figure that the topsoil part of your triple mix would be
equivalent to "garden loam" in some of those custom container
mix recipes.
