Default Perplexing Pepper Problem

I'm perplexed by a parasitic plant penetrating my peppers. While doing the seedling shuffle this evening I noticed at least two seedlings with the beginnings of goldenthread = dodder infection. Its not like I can spray herbicide to kill it. I'm hoping that I can just scrape it off and maybe it won't grow back????

Has anyone had this problem before? When I lived out West I saw alot of dodder infecting roadside plants. It is very rare here, but I saw some in the yard last summer. I'm hoping it doesn't like tomatoes or potatoes.
