Can you grow melons in containers?

I was just wondering if anyone had ever had any success with container growing any type of melon. Anyone?

So you've had some success then? Around here I cannot seem to get any ripe melons before the blasted pickle worms come and decimate everything. The few I've managed to get were very early ones. I know pot grown plants do tend to bear earlier, so I was thinking it might be worth a try.

I grew 2 cantaloupe last year in a 18 gallon swc with ok results. Fruit quality was terrific, quantity was poor.

So how many fruit did you get? Do you remember?

I got 5 fruit off two plants. They were not very big, averaging about 3 pounds each. But like I said they tasted awsome, very sweet too.
