Muddy Bucket Farm Update - 10 Jun 10
Thought I'd throw out some pictures showing the progress of my first-ever in-the-ground garden that I am doing on my own.
These Costoluto Genovese toms are about the size of golf balls. Those two plants are also full of blooms. CostGenvs1.JPGCostGenvs2.JPG And, I have fruit set on Cowlicks. Cowlicks1.JPG One of the new varieties for me is Khurma. Looks like it may be a saladette type. Khurma1.JPG I am a fan of Sibirskiy Skorospelyi and here's why. Check out the profusion of blooms on these two plants. I have 4 more elsewhere in the garden. SibSkor1.JPGSibSkor2.JPGSibSkor3.JPG And finally, here's the view I get when the rain clouds come by. The top of the mountain is always obscured by the clouds. This morning, the bottom of the clouds was at the top of the silos. Yesterday's and last night's rains were those "friendly" rains that soak all the way down to the bottom of the tilled parts of the garden. AND, that row of beans is full of blooms. Ted I know you are having the most fun ever. It is a beautiful place and the plants look so healthy and full of little toms and blooms, it is going to be your greatest year yet.

Thanks, folks. This morning, I found some small 1 inch long red okra and some tiny 3/4" long Blue Lake Green Beans. We've been harvesting pickle cucumbers for the last 10 days (dang, they grow fast!). Anyhow, here's my grow list for 2010. It was ambitious when I set out to do it, but I wanted to bust the seams just once before my age catches up and holds me down a bit.
And, Raybo, you and my brother are on the same idea. His garden (which he shares with one of my neices) is only about 15' by 30'. My monster is 35' by 75'. Maybe he's just jealous ..... or lazy. Judging by last year, it should be 5-7 feet tall. However, I did grow it last year in an 18 gallon tub. So, this year it's in the ground and ......... Ted
