Thanks Timmah.......I did not know jack about growing tomatoes 3 months ago I have read for many, many hours here at this site as this is my new hobby and obsession......Hahahaha. If you follow Rays Earthtainer instructions exactly......You will be impressed BIGTIME! My Earthtainer tomatoes grow constantly between 10 to 12 inches every week and are spawning fruit like crazy with our near perfect conditions all summer for weather in Michigan so far I am 51 years old and do not exaggerate my growth that I claim here UNBELIEVABLE to be honest here >>>>>>>>>>Talon

It is all in the love and talking sweet nothings to your tomato plants and watering correctly .......hehehehe.......Our weather conditions have been 80-92 with average rain amounts. Partly sunny sky's have prevailed over the last 2 months here I had no clue what I was doing in the beginning. My Legend plant is a determinate (bush type) and is already 60 inches tall with about 15 maters. It is taller than my Better Boy so far but has about 20 less maters as of today...... >>>>>>>>>>>>Talon

You are new to this game like myself. You had to deal with "deer issues" as well as other things that I have been very fortunate enough to have avoided Please do not compare or feel bad if one issue is better than the other persons growing conditions. You are here to learn how to grow tomatoes like myself. Please feel free to pm me anytime for silly newbie comparison notes to laugh about also Your friend >>>>>>>>>>>> Talon

..........I have read enough to spray my "5" plants with Daconil for preventive diseases once a week. Late blight as well as other nasty diseases were BAD to tomato growers in Michigan last season It ain't gonna happen to me if I can prevent it ahead of time ....... Come and get it >>>>>>>>>>Talon

Talon,
Very nice looking plants. You have done well. The plants in the tainers especially healthy looking. Next year you might give the in ground plant a little more bare ground around it so it does not have to compete with the grass. I bet you'll find it does as well as the other plants. You might be surprised in how far tomatoes will send out their roots. Good job anyway. Len

Can grass, as shallow as it is, really significantly compete for nutrients with the deep root system of a tomato plant? Sounds unlikely, but I've never made a direct comparison with controls.

Thanks Len....... next year there won't be any plants in the ground over here. I will build another Earthtainer for my maters. I love the convenience of swc's

Talon,
Looking Primo!! How frequently are you spraying with Daconil (oops, just saw above you said weekly), and how tall were the plants when you initially started the spray routine? I waited until I saw disease, which turned out to be too late, for some of my plants this Season. Raybo |

Thanks Raybo.....I started spraying 4 weeks ago. My plants were about 2 feet tall when I started. I check my plants 3 times a day and am happy to say that no disease or bugs are eating my plants I have a raccoon or something digging the dirt around my pink Bradywine plant in the ground a couple times this week. He probably smells the organic fertilizer that I added last week to the soil.....he has not hurt the plant so far I have been real lucky so far......I just hope everything stays this way >>>>>>>>>>Talon
