Default Germination Question

I harvested seeds this year from both a Bradley and Marglobe. Picked them both when they were ripe and let the seeds ferment for about 4 days before I rinsed and dried them. After 2-3 weeks, I tried a germination test but no luck. Other varieties gave me no problems. Can anyone give me some common reasons for this lack of successfull germination?

In order to give a good guess, I would need more info.

How long since the seeds were put into the starter soil/mix? Some seeds may take a week or two to "wake up".

What temperatures were the fermenting seeds subjected to? If you placed the containers outside in the sun, the temperature of the solution of juice and seeds could have risen above 130 degrees F. That would kill the germplasm inside the seeds.

Default Thanks

Thanks for your reply. The Marglobe seeds just broke through the surface today - that was a long time to wake up. The Bradley never came up. I replanted from the same lot and was successful the second time.
