Thing is, that tomato, once it's blushing, will taste just as good ripening on the counter as it would if you let it finish on the vine. Once a tomato is blushing, it has recieved all the good stuff it will from the plant & leaving it to finish on the plant is doing nothing but giving varmints & insects a chance to eat it before you do.
