Infinity Pepper???
Yesterday we had our first taste of Bhut Jolokia...8 brave souls tasted the blood of the devil! My brother ate at least 1/2 of a pepper...the rest of us ate much smaller portions. www.kctomatotimes.wordpress.com for the pictures. Videos to follow later today.
This morning I read about the Infinity pepper that's HOTTER than the Bhut Jolokia...does anyone know about this pepper and if/where I can find seeds!

I dunno about this infinity pepper but i'd rather look into finding sources for trinidad scorpions and 7pod peppers. Those havent been measured yet in terms of scoville units but a lot more people in the forum communities certainly know about the heat levels of those things and it's pretty much unanimous that they're hotter than bhuts. Douglahs, brain strains, barrackpores, primos are a few 7pods i'd mention. As for T.scorp, the butch t variety is said to be the hottest according to neil of the hippy seed company. A man i would listen to when it comes to any hot peppers.
And from what i've read this infinity pepper is a cross of some sort but mostly a 7pod hybrid. |

Huntoften, when you did your seedling sale, did you have many customers interested in Bhut Jolokia?

I know I had at least a dozen folks say they wanted bhut seedlings if I had them...will definitely try growing them this winter.
As for the 7 pods and Scorpions...they'll be fun to grow, but personally they are a pure novelty. Thai Hot is as far up the scoville scale as I care to venture on a regular basis with a rare trip to habanero city when I'm feeling brave. One taste of the bhut is all I need for the rest of my life!

I love various chilies for their flavors, and heat. There reaches a point where the heat masks the flavor. I have yet to try a chili with too much flavor.

I beg to differ, only bad tasting super hot varieties do that. Flavor doesnt really get masked. I would like to think that the pain from the heat distracts the flavor receptors.
Naga morich and dorset nagas have great flavor and an insane amount of heat. But then i guess it just takes a lot of getting used to before one actually gets to tell the difference. |
