Default sweet and early

I'm looking for a sweet pepper that matures (red) early. Any suggestions?

A couple years ago, I recall "Healthy" was fairly early for me.

I would recommend Red Beauty Hybrid from TGS. Matures 3-4 weeks before Cal. wonder.

I live in MN, too. I have had great luck with: Melrose, Red Cherry Sweet, and Sheepnose Pimento. They all mature to red, but are very different peppers. You didn't state what type of pepper you are looking for. These mature relatively early. I assume there are hybrids out there that are earlier, but these are relatively early OP peppers.

I grow a lot of different varieties each year but my favorite is Socrates from TGS. It is early and delicious but most of all it is far and away the most productive red bell pepper year in and year out. It is also very productive in the cooler weather of fall right up til it freezes.

I noticed peppers when they are small are terribly affected by cold. In my case (~zone 4) after transplant they simply freeze in place for 1 or even 2 months, they barely make 2 or 3 leaves in this time. After they manage to get some fruit going they produce just fine even in temperatures below 10C. I tried quite a few varieties, and the ones that are yellow seem the most affected so I'm not gonna try those anymore.

Next year gonna try at someone's suggestion the following: buran, healthy, red magic, cubic red. All supposedly early and cold tolerant. We will see, but my hopes aren't high.

Tollie's Sweet (sometimes called Tollie's Sweet Italian) is my favorite early red. Delicious. Plants are very compact too.

I grew Tollie's Sweet last year and it did pretty well, and it was tasty too as Suze points out. Lipstick is also tasty and always seems to ripen first for me over the (many) years I've grown it.

Spanish Spice Hyb, which is a sweet elongated red, is the earliest red for me. Up here, none of the bigger bell shapes are what I'd consider early. Despite the spice in the name, this is not hot, but very sweet when red ripe.

My favorite big bell type which does well every year is Big Early Hyb, but as I mentioned, it is not particularly early here.
