NuMex Slim Jim vs Big Jim?

Hello. I saw a listing from Mariseeds for NuMex Slim Jim peppers and ordered a bag. Can someone tell me the difference between the two? The Big Jims are the Hatch chiles, right? I'm so confused, I wanted a mild Hatch chile, what did I order???? LOL!

Several different peppers are grown in the Hatch area. Big Jim is one of the popular mid level heat varieties. Big Jim's heat also tends to be variable from pepper to pepper. Just when you think they have no heat one will light you up. The new Heritage Big Jim is supposed to be more consitent

I think that Numex 6-4 and Joe Parker are the main Hatch low heat varieties.

Sonora aka sonora anaheim is the same size as Big Jim and is very mild.

Slim Jim is a Burpee medium heat variety, maybe Burpee's copy of big Jim????

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm so dumb, I went back and checked and what I bought was NuMex Big Jim! Don't know where I got the "slim" part!

Anyway, thanks for your help! I ordered Big Jim chiles from New Mexico and boy, were they hot! For me, anyway. I made a delicous green chile stew but was sweating while I was eating it!

Try NM Garnet if you want one with no heat...just great flavor.
