kicking and screaming!!!
I was soooo mad yesterday - went to pick my first (ever) strawberries - 3 were ripe at 3 pm and at 4 pm they were GONE! Squirrels or birds but I just wanted to come in the house and throw myself on the floor in a kicking screaming fit. So today they are covered with wire screen. Deep breath, piegirl - there will possibly be more tomorrow. That's like stealing someone's first tomato of the season! Piegirl

Sorry to hear that piegirl, I know when you are looking forward to something like that so bad you can almost taste them before you even get to eat them. Hopefully strawberries delayed are not strawberries denied. I waited a day too long to pick my blueberries last year, thought they could use one more day on the bush... ducks and geese must've thought they were perfect the way they were because when I went out the next day the bushes were picked completely clean.

Don't forget about the slugs. I lost most of mine to slugs last year.
