Re: moving them in the garage to avoid cold snaps. Here is a site
with potentially a good idea for that: http://www.susancohangardens.com/blog/mobile-gardens One would need to custom build them, rather than using Rubbermaid tubs from a big box store as a base, and picking up one end of one of those could generate serious back strain. Maybe wheels on both ends with kick stop wheels on one end to keep it in place once you get it where you want it would be more practical. You could also put a trailer hitch on one end, or a 3-pt tractor hitch, or just a big eye bolt on each end to attach a cable to, or a 12-volt battery box, an electric winch, and a solar charger, etc. (Lots of possibilities for the DIY tinkerer.)

I'm growing some of the Dwarf Project plants in containers this summer with recycled potting mix. I will probably grow all of the available varieties next year in normal containers with timed and metered drip irrigation. I plan on mixing up some good sterile soil for the purpose.
Can those of you growing in the DFW metroplex area suggest a good supplier of the raw materials (pine bark fines, pearlite, expanded shale, promix) for the soil mixture. I never see those materials in large bulk in the stores I frequent in the North Texas area. I'm not interested in ordering the materials. Shipping usually costs as much as the product. Thanks in advance! Ted |

I need to correct something I said earlier about shade cloth. I actually obtained in from the company called growerssolutions.com They have it made by green.tek, but I dealt with, ordered from and paid growers solutions. Looking at their web page, they seem to have a bunch of interesting items, but I got the white 50% shade cloth with grommets. Recommend.
