Some very interesting peppers on that site. And I thought I grew too many peppers this year...I will be in trouble next year!
So go ahead...any more great pepper seed sources? |

The Casados farm is a little ways up the river from me. Joanne has a restaurant here in town. Their chile is spicy, but not real hot and was developed for higher elevations and cooler nights. It's interesting to hear it's pretty adaptable. I'm growing the shisito for market and the Chimayo chile, along with some other hot peppers. They are just beginning to blossom, so your season is way ahead of mine.

Casados was early, first ripe of my green chile. You are right on, its not overly spicy, but it has a good kick and flavor.

Great looking shisito. I am picking mine green, Erwin. Does the taste change when it goes from green to red?

Michael...Your peppers look great...I have grown about 50% of the chile pepper seeds offered from Native seeds and they have some gems...Velarde and Santa Domingo are much earlier than traditional anaheim plants here...the peppers are smaller (and a bit thinner skinned), but prolific...Sadly, this year no garden again, only a few containers...I am seriously looking into a greenhouse....

You have been awol for a while-did you move and hence the garden problem, or is it the weather? I dont remember if you live in high winds area, but if I had to do it over, I would go with a hoop house-so you can remove the covering and keep gardening in the summer. In my summers (it was 107 degrees F here yesterday) my greenhouse growing area is useless during the summer. It was 126 degrees F in there yesterday. Have not grown Velarde or Santa Domingo but will look at them.

Michael...we moved about 15 months ago, so no garden for 2 summers...Not as many grasshoppers, but lots more wind....Temps have been cool and rainy, although first time it hit 90...I really miss my old cold frame set up which at least let me grow greens through the fall...
We have such hard blowing winds here , I am not sure they make something strong enough... Jeanne |

Jeanne-my wife and I flew back into El Paso a couple weeks ago with 45 mph winds, so I know what you are talking about. A greenhouse might be best for you then.
