Mark, I would use 1/4 cup for your 5gal SWC. If you want to try something new I would get the Extreme Gardening organic feeder packs and put 3 of them in the planting hole, one on the bottom and the other two on the sides.
I used them last year and was pleased with the results in my raised bed and think they would work great in a 5gal SWC. Get the 50 pack for $8.95 as that is one of the cheapest prices out there. Ami
