Wonder if beneficial nematodes applied in spring would help? Or, milky spore?

No, I haven't tried cushaw. I've grown butternut, buttercup, and Guatamalan Blue, and I like buttercup the best.
Losing plants with immature fruits is not a total disaster. The young, tender squashes can be used in the same way one would use zucchini. They make good crudites with a Ranch dressing dip.

I'm trying cushaw this year. Supposed to make great pie. Very bug, drought and heat resistant.
I really love kabocha but it doesn't like heat. |
