Anyone ever plant Red Ace Beet?
I planted 5 varieties of beet; Red Ace, Cylindra, Detroit, Early Wonder, Ruby Queen. Red Ace touts itself as high germinating, yet it has the lowest germination of all 5 types. There's barely any that germinated to be honest. Seed was purchased from Territorial Seed; could I have received a bad batch? first time ordering from them and first time with a germination issue. First time I've come across this in the 4 or 5 years of having gardens.

I am growing a variety of beet types this year as well, Cylindra, Chiogga, Bull's Blood and Golden Ball. I have grown Red Ace in the past, did not notice a difference in germination. Maybe you got a bad batch? I would contact Territorial, they are good to work with. Good Luck!

Red Ace is an excellent beet. It's been a favorite of mine for years. It matures with attractive smooth skin and has great flavor.

I agree with Swamper. Red Ace is an excellent beet. It is also one of my favorites, and I have never had any germination issues with it.

I grew Red Ace for years and never had germination problems either- if the other varieties are germination then it's the seed. Golden beets can sometimes have a lower germination rate than red types.

Thanks! I'll call Territorial Seed this morning and see what they say.
