Pine bark fines and pine bark nuggets / chips are not the same. Pine bark fines are either labeled as just that, "fines" or as "soil conditioner."
Either are fine, probably, I've only used the composted fines. I suppose you could just add compost to the larger nuggets or chips? |

The 2 Lowes in my area that I could count on for soil conditioner seemed to have changed over to something else called claybreaker. Is is not the same and I am NOT happy about it.
I still have on Walmart I can get it at but I wonder how long that will last. Are you hearing me Lowes? I am not happy with yall'! |

What is the brand you're getting at Wally World? I saw a bag there the other day of pine bark mulch and it look like small, ground chips. I couldn't see on the bag though if this is "bark fines" but from what I've been reading that's pretty much the same thing? Is that correct?

rhe name of the product is Dr. Campbell's soil amendment. the website says it is composed of "Grade “A” Compost products and aged bark fines" all that I see looking at it is the pine bark fines. cost me $7.95 for a bag. cheap since I would have paid almost any price. the website is "pigapproved.com"

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Timberline...1.5CF/16911970 Every WM doesn't carry it. The mulch you mentioned might work but a person might need to put less peat moss or possibly not any to avoid water retention issues. I will do that if I have to but so far I don't have to. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Timberline...h-2CF/16911966 It's worth a try if you can't find the fines. Maybe buy a bag and open it up and poor it out and check the contents. Or make a test batch and see how it grows. |
