Bilberry, whortleberry, ground hurts
One of my favorite things to grow other than tomatoes is blueberries. Well, I love growing most berries in general, but right now I just have strawberries and blueberries.
I learned about a berry in the blueberry family that is called a "bilberry" or a "whortleberry," or "ground hurts." I really find the name "ground hurts" interesting. Anyway has anyone out there cultivated this berry? The blueberry is vaccinium cyanococcus and the bilberry is vaccinium myrtillus or uliginosum. I'm giving the scientific nomenclature in case anyone wants to look up the differences for their own info. I would love to hear if anyone has these and what their experiences are with them. |
