Ice Cream Melon?
I got some seeds from an old high school friend who used to do some small farming in PA. One of the seeds he sent me was "Ice Cream Melon" which is an heirloom watermelon, but I know nothing else about it and he's tough to reach to ask. The packet states heirloom, so it isn't the one that was a cross with Jenny Lind.
Anyone ever grow this? I was wondering if it was a small melon or a big one and how to plan for it in the garden this year.

I grew it with about 15 other varieties, all heirloom, in 2011. It is a small melon with a whitish skin and red meat. The vines were productive and long lasting. Overall the melons were so-so that year, and ice cream was near the bottom of the list in sweetness and flavor. I did not regrow it last year.
Having said that, melons are like tomatoes in that the geography and the growing year make for varied results from year to year. I'm in hot humid northeast Georgia. I will try to find a picture and post it. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
