I don't know any cucumber variety that will produce in July and August whether you're in Phoenix or Houston.

I will say that Poona Kheera was great for me in the spring, but once it got hot, they really wilted in all-day sun.

Next time I grow them, I will be using either Surround as a partial sunblock, or better yet growing them in a container that I will move closer to the house as the season progresses to provide afternoon shade.

I second what Feldon said, plus the PK or regular shaped cukes are just easier to work with.

We grew lemon cucumbers one hot summer, and they outgrew, and out produced our regular cucumbers. The monster vine climbed over our 8 foot tall privacy fence, and our neighbors were able to pick cukes from it, too. We are planning to plant again this year, it is a definite keeper here in North Texas.

Last year we tried Poona Kheera and lemon cukes. Both got wiped out by the early heat wave but we did get a few. We did not care for the PK or the lemon cukes. I guess we are just not cuke adventurers.
