Planting Radish

And eight foot row of two types of radish was planted, four feet of each three across the row.Depth about two seeds diameters. Types are Round Black Spanish and French Breakfast. The conventional board method was utilized. Germination in about ten days.Flea beetle is present so I have been spraying periodically with Neem oil and soap. |

I also planted some French Breakfast radishes but they were from that company that were not suppose mention around here with the big beautiful color catalog.
I'm also gonna try to grow some Spanish Black Cylindrical radishes this fall that I picked up from some save the earth hippie shop out in Berkley California 2 years ago. I've also got some kinda bug eating the leaves but might be picking them before to long so I won't be putting any bug killer on it. Here's a pic of the French. That is real growth. Most impressive. Mine never have that much vegetation.

Picked 3 of them this after noon after watering, one was about an inch and a half, one was 2 inches and the last about 3 and a half inches.
The 1 and 2 incher tasted pretty good not that much of a bite to them the 3+ incher had more of the hot radish taste to it, so Depending on your tastes I would recommend eating them 1 to 3 inches. As for the green tops my wife plans on making something called water kimchi with them. |

I have French Breakfast radishes too, aren't they cute? Mine were kinda small though, I thought they would be about 3" long and mine ended up 1-1/2 to 2" long. Adorable though and mild.
I didn't plant too many. I did try a white type, but apparently it is supposed to be planted in Fall because I have barely any root at all and what looks like a small taproot. Those radishes confuse me...some are Spring, some are Fall. I just like the almost instant gratification. Plant seeds, 30 days later, eat a radish. lol
