Default Finally, some results.

Not really praising myself here, as I haven't magically become a tomato whisperer, but I finally have some fruit set. I'll give credit to the cooler weather we have been blessed with here in OK.....although I did spend quite a bit of time beating cages and 'massaging' blooms with a electric toothbrush! Hopefully by next year I'll be starting from seed, have a little hoop house for early planting and even have some Earthtainers. Anyway here's some pics from a rookie.

****Please forgive me if pics aren't sized right, first post using my iPhone

This is actually the third tomato of the year........only got two before the heat wave set in, and after the monsoon stopped this spring.

A few little ones. I was getting nervous that all the blooms were just dying and I would get no fruit. One day I pulled off the dying petals and then didn't know what I was looking at, just the ovary or an actual tomato??? Well, here is the answer!

Sorry this one is blurry

Don't judge, it's a work in progress.

Nice pics! Glad you finally got some fruit set. You might consider The Miracle BPF next year. It produces strong and early on a very small compact bushy plant. Mine had no problems setting in either the monsoon floods or the heat. Tastes good too.

Nice pics....hey at least you're growing some of your own food, more than what a lot of other folks won't even try to do. The more you grow the better you'll get at it too. Keep us posted with more pics.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Last two days I've noticed even more fruit set. Not great numbers by any means but exciting for sure. It's been far to long since I've had good home grown tomatoes so I am looking forward to what I've got.

Redbaron, are there any 'GOOD' places to get tomatoes here around OKC. I went to the Edmond farmers market last year, twice I think, and no luck finding good tomatoes. Also, recently found a place close to the house that advertised tree ripened peaches and vine ripened tomatoes but nothing I bought was any good. Thought I hit the jackpot last year when I came upon a truck and trailer in a parking lot selling veggies. But again, disappointed with what they had.

I just would like to have some good tomatoes right NOW while I wait on my own.

Thanks

Justin

Willie the tomatoman from Texas used to set up a stand, but he is AWOL this year. Even his were not especially great. Not bad. Other than that I have never found a single good tomato since I entered this state 5 years ago unless I grew it myself. That hasn't been all that easy either.
