Taking seeds from tomatoes
Hello Good people of Tomatoville
I was wondering if you can take seeds from tomatoes to plant another year. If you can how do you dry them safely so they don't mould or rot and how do you store them. I never really thought about planting vegetables or the seeds. They just come in envelopes lol I am sure I sound like a child lol when I say I am a novice I mean complete novice. The reason for my question is so if I am in any way successful in planting and maintaining my vegetables and they turn out to be good it would be nice to take seeds from them for the next year and so on. Thanks for your patience in tomatoes for dummies. Falcon |

Yes! If you plant open-pollinated tomatoes, you can save the seed and grow new plants from them. See the Starting from Seed forum for details and to ask more questions.

Doug beat me to it, I was going to put up that exact link. Excellent step by step instructions, very clearly written, and photos too.
