Yes mine turned red on the bottom half and kept a healthy dose of blue on the top. I ate some during the season but the late ones were the best. Enjoy!

Helsing ★★★★★★★★ Blues Update
OK, Granite26, mine have turned a "Tequila Sunrise" on one side when ripe. They look good and taste good, too. I entered my Helsings at this year's Shelby County Fair (Indiana) and they won CHAMPION!!! Just found out a couple hours ago. I need to let Tom Wagner know that another of his varieties is getting recognized with honors!
Something kinda neat that I "saw" for the first time this afternoon is that when you take the stem off this variety it leaves a perfect star, either 5 or 6 points. This is a shot I took this afternoon. It doesn't begin to show the beauty of this tomato in-person. : ) |

Love the picture! For some reason the Don McLean song "Starry starry night" keeps running through my head...

Gary, this gardening stuff is the best therapy in the world! The hot weather tends to pale next to the enjoyment of playing in the dirt!
I sent you a PM about Helsing ★★★★★★★★. It is one of the better varieties from Tom Wagner's zillions of varieties! I think I mentioned it earlier, but I grew Bali (Togo?) for the first time this year, and am pleased with plant vigor and taste! This would make a great salad tomato or a great sauce tomato. It also has a bit of acid bite that I find pleasing! |

I grew a single HJB last summer and they were absolutely amazing. A real conversation piece among gusts. They look especially cool with other contrasting toms, like Wapsipinicon Peach:
The plant was very productive, but it took a long time for fruits to ripen - I would say, it is a late season variety for me.

Those look so beautiful! Congrats on the win. What do the blues taste like? Are they acidic? Sweet? Old timey-tomatoey? I'm really curious, and was on the fence about buying seeds for the blues but was looking for more feedback on the flavor before taking the leap.
