Default Squirrel poop?

Can anyone identify these droppings that I discovered across the top of my fence rail? I haven't discovered any damage in the garden, but this can't be good....right?

Looks like squirrel droppings to me, but I'm no expert. Cayenne will keep them at bay, they hate the stuff.

That might be the best advice given on TV. Thanks! LOL!

I sprinkled the pepper stuff all along the railing last night and didn't see any more "evidence" out there this morning. Hopefully that works until our next rain!

I've never had to use it on plants (this is my first year growing edibles and we're in an apartment, so no big squirrel issues), but I always put it in my birdfeeders. It is hilarious seeing an unsuspecting squirrel bite into cayenne-birdseed! They really do hate it. I'd sprinkle right on the plants, myself, and just rinse them well before eating, but I'm not sure if that's the best way necessarily.
