Ouch! Yes, a lesson learned the painful way! I hope you're okay today!

Part of me was laughing and the other part felt really sorry you suffered so long.

I laughed, I cried, I felt your pain. One time I used this "muscle rub" ointment on the back of my thigh, not knowing that the stuff contained capsaicin. I'm very sensitive to the stuff, and have to wear gloves even to chop a fairly mild poblano! But like I said, I didn't know the ointment had capsaicin in it.

Well, I found out soon enough, because about thirty seconds after slathering myself up, I felt a horrible burning sensation. I tried to wipe it off with a wet rag, but as you point out in your blog, water just spreads the stuff around. Soon my butt was on fire. It was like the devil himself had goosed me.

Now I read the labels on these things very, very carefully.

ow! we had some hot jalapenos one year, and i have fairly sensitive skin.

i did the milk/water/oatmeal/butter dance for a few hours. My fiance was almost laughing at me. but he knew i really did hurt. GLOVES! or he cuts the peppers.

Glad youre OK, and had the good idea to wrap up in the comfortor.

I've never had an experience as awful as Mark's and hope that I never will, though I tend to be a little carless with the chili's at times and will keep his experience in mind.

I've read that diluted bleach solution works to alleviate the burning sensation from peppers. Never tried it, but thought it might be worth sharing.

**** that's awful! I'm glad you are feeling better today! This is my first year gardening and I planted some jalapeños and habaneras, now I'm scared to pick them!
