How close are they? And how often do you BBQ? If you're thinking something along the lines of "second hand smoke" I would not worry in the least. If the tomato plant hangs over the grill, you might find yourself singeing a few leaves.

Granny, They are in buckets about 8ft or so away from the grill so scinging them is not an issue, I just had no idea if the smoke blowing on them might bother them, depending on which way the wind is blowing sometimes it gets kind of thick. I didnt want to choke them.(haha) I'm still learning, and had alot of problems with the ones in my garden and put these out to make sure I have tomatoes all summer long just in case the garden doesnt make it. Thanks for the response, I was beginning to wonder if I stumped a few of the pros here or what since no one was responding. I am not going to worry about th second hand smoke then, I maybe BBQ twice a week if the weather is nice.
