saving pepper seed question
How ripe (red) do peppers have to be before one might be sure of getting good seed? Plants are loaded now with tons of greens, frost is surely coming and I'd like to get a lot more seed saved.
Thanks - Robbins |

Hi Robbins.
I have purchased peppers at the store on sale and with so many some were hung up to dry in doing so they turned red on their own. I then planted the seeds from these peppers and have had almost all of them sprout. So, with that said I feel that if the pepper is mature even if it isn't red or whatever color it may be that the seeds will be fine if allowed to to dry. I have even had seeds from green peppers sprout. Worth |

Thanks so much for your input. Think I'll pick the reds and hang the plants and hope for more ripes. How's life in the cold Alaskan wilds? Love your pictures. Thanks - Robbins |
