Wow, thank you so much!
I don't think I can use the myco grow with the mittleider method. Unfortunately, it also does not reccomend using a controlled release fertilizer with this method. But I can still take a few suggestions and put them to good use.

I grew Malagueta chili peppers last year - dried and ground.
Hot stuff...easy to grow. Scoville heat units: 50,000 – 100,000 Jalapeño reference point: 6 to 40 times hotter

I'm interested in a good recipe, but mrswages had over 1300 votes and only managed a 3 out of 5 stars, not that good! Smithma's sounds better.
I only ever pickled radishes, twice! I used this recipe, and the vinegar sounds very interesting in the recipe. I could only find it at Amazon. I had an abundance of pepperoncinis last year...I pickled bunches but it got to be too many (I also wasn't crazy about the texture once pickled), so I dried them.
Fantastic tasting powder to add to chili dishes, etc. I liked them best dehydrated and ground (in a coffee grinder). Here is the dehydrator I use - if you have a 20% coupon from Bed, Bath & Beyond it's not a bad deal: Nesco® American Harvest® Snackmaster® Encore™ Dehydrator And Jerky Maker This year I am growing Hungarian Paprika to dry. Now if I can get the sunscald to abate I will have a decent harvest. Here's a couple so far:

True story...
last night, I brought a bunch of vegetables from my garden to our volleyball game to share with my friends. One of my friends loves peppers. So, I brought him a bag of pepperoncinins. I also finally got some of the Trinidad Perfume peppers. They were really pretty. I was telling him how they had the flavor of a habanero but without the heat. Also, how it was also suggested to stuff them with cream cheese. We were oohing and ahhing and then my husband said...hey have you tried one yet and I said no. So curious, I took a tiny bit off of the end of one (using caution). I thought that I felt a little tingle but nothing. So I took a bigger bit and HOLY F@%K!!!! It was hot!!!! (All of my friends were looking at me is disbelieve so I handed the same pepper to my friend that eats this stuff and he we like YEP, that's pretty f'ing hot!) I am grabbing my mouth and searching for anything to make it go away. All that was available to me was water. After about 10-15 minutes the swelling in my tongue went down. lol j/k, it (pain) finally started easing up. I was like WTF...these are NOT supposed to be hot! This is definitely false advertisement!! hehe Has anyone else had this problem? hahaha
