Lots of snappers laying eggs this year.
One in the pond looks like a sea turtle. Huge.

These guys were laying June 16.

Critters dig the eggs every year, but some always seem to make it. There are about 10 nests in a 10' space.

One learns to pick up a stick and hold it in front of one's face when walking at night. They jump down and run away.

I feel like a little kid playing at swords when I'm walking around at night for that very reason. A 4 foot bamboo stick is my preferred saber, or in her majesty's English, sabre.

There were some real pretty ones, in yellow and reds.

Here's my haul from an auction today. I paid $42. It's hard to see everything, but there would be hundreds of dollars of containers here if I bought them new. Just the 4" sheet pot inserts stacked on the end of the tailgate are $1 per sheet when I buy them new. My lot of merchandise went for about half of what it should, judging by the prices paid for similar stuff, but mine was the dirtiest and piled in the back of an old barn. The picture of it was not that appealing. The auction was online, so all there was to go by was the pictures.
