clara, you need to find somebody in your area that has a roto-tiller and pay them to come in and give it the once over. I have back problems as well and I payed for it when the plantout was finished. But it was worth it.

Strange thing, Ami, last week a young man dropped in while my son was cutting a branch of a tree by hand facing the street (by hand, because the chainsaw didn't work). He jumped out of his car where he had some garden tools on and said: I can't look at you working like that; may I help you with my chainsaw? We were very pleased with his offer, because in a few minutes that branch that hang over the street was gone. Today he came back and we spoke about cutting down the whole big tree (a maple) next Friday for a very good price. I shall wait to see how reliably he works and ask him for some more garden work such as cutting the hedges etc. In former days, I did all that with the help of my son, but now we both have too much other things to do and my back is getting that worse, I CAN'T do it any longer. Since this morning I even have problems to drive my car because I nearly can't lift my left foot on the coupling in spite of yesterday's injections and a lot of tablets. Life is bad at the moment... clara

clara I feel for you. I have been through the whole gambit of treatments and after it was done and over they said surgery was the only option I have left. So as long as I can function and do my work I will put it off as long as I can and endure the pain. Ami

Ami, same thing as me! I definitely don't like the idea of having surgery at my spine! But at the moment everything is so painful... even walking more than 25 meters is a problem. It's so hard to get from the parking to school, I need 2 "breaks" to get there. Inside we have an elevator (for teachers only), otherwise no chance to do my work. All the best to you! clara
