All metal and concrete, but will check with the building management. And, I am in my seventieth year, have arthritis ( and according to some, should not be eating "nightshades", but love them.

Bair, if you have a wheelchair it's great for bringing in groceries and moving plants. I'm a caregiver and the lady I care for has one she never uses.
I use it for bringing in sodas, cat litter, anything heavy. |

I will be 70 in September, so I think I need to try something new next year. I can handle the weight, but the climbing and reaching isn't much fun. I don't have a wheelchair. The idea of not being able to do things I used to do is something I resist like mad. I may give in and get a dolly to move stuff, but not without a fight! I meant if you have someone's wheelchair around, like in the garage or something.
I have arthritis, and boy that wheelchair sure helps unload things on grocery day. |

Here's how they look today. I have pruned lots of foliage off. I also had something of a disaster. The plants in the large area got too tall, about 2' - 3' beyond the roof. They fell back over on top of the plants in the front. I've tied them up the best I can to keep the containers from tipping over. But, the plants are really mashed together. I don't know how I'm going to get at the tomatoes in the back. I definitely need to do something different next year.

Looks good!
I agree with the comment about dwarf varieties... I have 7 varieties of dwarfs in 5 gallon containers on my deck this year. They are all 2-3 feet tall and very easy to manage. |

I tried a few dwarfs last year. They didn't have much taste. Maybe they don't come in the same varieties as what I'm growing? I have:
Black Krim Black Prince Cherokee purple Old German (orange) Green zebra Golden Zebra Yellow plum Yellow Pear Sugarsweet Sweet 100 Burgundy cherry White Cherry Tomato Chela 2 heirloom Romas Healthkick Roma and few more I forgot. |

Look at Rosella Purple and New Big Dwarf. Also, Lime Green Salad.
I was really surprised how many dwarf varieties, old and new, there were when I looked this year. Quite the change from a few years back, when the accepted wisdom seemed to be "no tomatoes in containers". Thank goodness I found Tomatoville! http://heritagetomatoseed.com/catego...omato-project/ Also, for a comprehensive listing (not all available commercially, but those that are have sources listed): http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/w...atoes_by_Color Tl |

Your tomato plants look great Balr14. Very healthy looking and quite vigorous. How big are those containers you're using?

an update
Here is about two days worth of picking. Stuff in basket and dark bowl are from yesterday (minus what has been eaten or used). Stuff in green bowl and on counter are today, still wet from washing.
