What's nice about John Scheepers is that it's a three for one deal. You get the kitchen garden one, the John Scheepers one which has flower bulbs and Van Engelan's which has the same bulbs as John Scheepers but in larger quantities.

I’m surprised Tomatofest can’t be found on any list. Their web site is quite informative, Dagma and Gary, their owners, are friendly people. I told them once a variety had not germinated and I was immediately sent another packet. You are very lucky people to have so many first class growers. Congratulations to Seeds from Italy : they sell 30 varieties of Italian Franchi seeds, their sellers in Europe sell only 10 !

Although I generally make small orders from a large variety of catalogs and companies, many of which have been mentioned in this thread, I order the bulk of my "plant every year" seeds from Fedco. They have a large selection, and provide a great value with their generally generous seed packets.

pinetree seeds in maine for 95% of bought seeds.
sometimes the local blue seal feed and grain store if i need something and refuse to pay $5 for s&h for 1 packet of seed. renee's gaden for the lettuce i like. i'm trying to get seeds this year since lettuce seed is worthless after 2 years. i have had plants flowering since mid july, so many now it looks like a flower garden in that area, that were planted in early april and i still can't get seeds. johnny's in a pinch. s&h is just too expensive. i used to buy from fedco but their rules and regulations are so stringent i just can't be bothered with them unless i'm really in a bind. NEVER EVER from baker creek heirloom seeds NEVER EVER. tom

These things are like inside jokes that your friends refuse to explain. I know people dislike Gary Ibsen for being a self-promoter, and it seems there's some kind of history of seeds not growing true, but when you've arrived late to the party it's hard to figure out what the story is. His site is second only to Tatiana's (and it's a distant second) in terms of showing pictures and giving descriptions of a huge number of varieties.
People seem to dislike Jere Gettle for being very young, and also being a tireless self promoter, and I can just about understand disliking him for having this weird Amish hipster aesthetic in the way he dresses, but I don't understand the sheer vitriol. Again, late to the party. I would love it if someone felt like they waned to explain! |

Favorite seed catalogs? As in paper ones? Definitely Baker Creek and Seed Savers Exchange. I tote them around with me about everywhere I go for a month or so after they come.
Online, I love em all but I especially enjoy those photos at Double Helix Farms. |

I love that Canadian one too, and they had seeds I wanted (and couldn't find another reliable source for) and they don't ship to us this year! Arrrrgh!
Favorite seed catalog -- I really like looking through Baker Creek & Johnny's. I use the Tomatobase so often it's in my top five on my browser start page! |

I really like RH Shumway's catalog. Nice illustrations and large format.
