Peppers and tomatoes. This will be the first time ever growing tomatoes from seed. I prefer the earthbox over container or ground growing.

So... I am considering buying a bunch of these vs building my own Earthtainer. Will I regret being lazy and getting the prebuilt Earthbox? They seem so small, do they really put out such a good yeild to make it worthwhile?

I've grown in them successfully for a 4 or 5 years. Have a total of 10 because that is all my porch will support. I've done much better once I got the automatic watering system. I've seen others that have done well with drip irrigation also.

I think the EBs look nicer than the DIY and also from what I've read they last longer. I am happy I bought the ones I have. FYI, I bought 6 last fall off of Amazon, the price dropped after the season. Plus I looked for a vendor that charged shipping on an individual EB, their base price was lower to account for the shipping. But if you bought 3 (I think), they gave you free shipping.

Unfortunately my options are limited in Canada, I will probably just be buying them direct from their website. I think Ive convinced myelf to just go ahead

Asimov, they used to sell them at Greenland Garden Centre in Sherwood Park.
Maybe try there.

I'll probably have them shipped close to the border and avoid the shipping into Canada. Of course with tax at the border, etc.

I have 14 (over 1.5 years) and when my first 2 were delivered; I had the same feeling about them being small. But when you fill them, you fill above the top like a loaf of bread.

Until this spring, I grew exclusively tomatoes, but I have 2 for peppers, and one for cukes because the tomatoes were done for the year and I'm not letting an EB go empty for long.

Peppers and cukes are amazing in EB.

I also made a few, (not the Earthtainer design), but in each case, I ended up after awhile having to water from the top. I think the screen underneath collapsed. I will know when those tomatoes are done for the summer.

All of mine except one are on casters.

Thanks! I already ordered online though. Decided to just suck it up and pat what I had to.

Eggplant grow amazingly well for me in Earthboxes. I think they love the extra heat. In ground eggplant grew poorly in zone 6b.

I'm growing tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, beets, turnips, and garlic. Outside of tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers others have already commented on-the beets, turnips, and garlic do amazing in EB. When comparing EB with other containers growing the same vegetables, the EB produces quicker healthier plants.
